CALL FOR SECURITY & PEACE IN RIVERS STATE
The embarrassing video clip showing the police attack on our Governor Sim Fubara and the undue acts of some persons, ostensibly to unseat the very new Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara are unacceptable to the people of the State, particularly the Rivers Ijaws that have been out of the seat of governance for 24 years.
The purported action of the former Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule-led State Legislature if not discarded can be viewed as ethnic bias, nepotism, and one that is remote-controlled by their masters.
As the Legislative leader of the Ijaw National Congress, I call for restraint on all sides in the Rivers State political saga to avoid further crisis and wanton destruction of lives and properties in Rivers State.
It should be noted that “Sir Sim Fubara is a Rivers Ijaw son who also deserves to exercise his mandate as the elected Governor for the State”.
The perpetrators should desist from engaging in any act that could disrupt the good governance drive of Governor Sim Fubara because “the Ijaws would not take it lightly as we are not slaves in this state”.
It should be noted that the Ijaws will continue to engage other ethnic groups and stakeholders in Rivers State and beyond and follow up with the Ijaw Nation’s position from the INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba and our dear father, Chief Edwin Clarke.
Let Sim be.
